The well-known region of Barriada is famous due to its excellent red and sparkling wine production. The natural properties of soil are perfect to transform this location in an exceptional point to the wine industry.

The Bairrada Wine Route is distributed in three attractive itineraries: Trilhos do Monte, Caminhos do Barro and Estradas de Areia. During these routes you will enjoy cozy walks, special landscapes with lush vegetation and thermal stays. The route includes 28 touristic points, full of wineries and country homes that will you allow to understand in great detail the production process, the storage area and the wine harvest. Also, you will can complete your stay with a maritime route between the best coast locations.


Visit the Barriada Wine Museum and do an incredible virtual trip through its region, its wine and its history. Inside the museum you will find the permanent exhibition “Wine Routes (Percursos do Vinho)”.


Located in central Portugal, the Bairrada region has this name because of the nature of the clay soils. Besides wine and landscape, the gastronomy is one of the most important touristic attractions. The Bairrada Roasted Pig, the Chanfana, the Feijoada and the Cabidela are some of its main traditional dishes.



Mealhada has a cinema-theatre, a Municipal Library, a commercial area and a cozy garden. The Caves Messias winery is also located in Mealhada, where the company has more than 60.000 square meters of facilities and about 16 hectares of vineyard.


The mineral and natural waters of the Luso Thermal Station have therapeutic properties, which can be used in a lot of body treatments to improve the health of visitors.


The Bucaço Mountain, natural heritage due to its secular trees, is an idyllic place to walk and enjoy the nature. Inside this incredible botanic treasure you will find an important historic heritage, led by all the hermitages of the Via Sacra. Also, in this route is located the Military Museum, the Fern Valley, the Buçaco Palace Hotel and the Cold Fountain, a visible waterfall through the High Cross Lookout.
